Martínez Nieto, S.A. selects Non-GMO ingredients. GMO means genetically modified organisms. Genetic engineering takes genetic material from different organisms to create agricultural products with characteristics that do not belong to them, like growing very fast or becoming very resistant to pests or fungal attacks. Genetic engineering is not a natural process and Martínez Nieto, S.A. avoids the use of genetically modified ingredients.
Martínez Nieto, S.A. refuses to include irradiated ingredients in any of its products. Ingredient irradiation is a modern method consisting of applying specific levels of ionizing radiation to prevent food deteriorarion and kill potential pathogens. This unnatural process inevitably damages DNA and cell membranes and breaks enzymatic pathways. Studies on irradiation safety are little convincing and Martínez Nieto, S.A. does not allow irradiated ingredients in any of its products.
